South by Southwest (SXSW) – Austin (Mar 7 – 15, 2025)

Austin hosts one of the country’s most popular festivals each year during South by Southwest (SXSW). Whether you are interested in the world-famous music artists playing here or want to learn more about new films and tech, the program never fails to impress at this festival. The broad range of events on offer attracts visitors worldwide, and you’ll need to ensure you secure tickets well in advance to avoid disappointment. Since its first event in 1987, the program continues to expand yearly. Sherwood Forest Faire – McDade (Weekends Mar 1 – Apr 20, 2025)

Sherwood Forest Faire is a Renaissance-themed festival with jousting, crafts, and period performances. It is open on weekends between March 1st and April 20th, 2025, and goes ahead rain or shine. Each weekend, you’ll find a great selection of unique shopping and entertainment options. Visitors will enjoy seeing the incredible costumes and performances that take place each year and it’s a great festival to bring your family and friends to if you are looking for a memorable day out this spring.

 

Llano Earth Art Fest – Llano (March 28-30, 2025)

Llano Earth Art Fest is a Texas spring festival celebrating rock stacking and natural art. Highlights include rock-balancing competitions and eco-friendly events. The festival is free to enter and will occur in Grenwelge Park on March 28, 29, and 30. This year’s event focuses on the World Rock Stacking Championships and Earth Art.

 

Bluebonnet Festival – Burnet (April 11-13, 2025)

Burnet’s Bluebonnet Festival is a celebration of Texas’ state flower which takes place each year on the second weekend in April. About 35,000 people attend the event annually and enjoy the parades, live music, and arts and crafts on offer. One of the highlights of a visit to the Bluebonnet Festival is naturally the wildflower viewing. The side room of the Burnet Public Library will host this year’s wildflower show during the festival and is open on Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. If you want to explore the local area, you can also pick up a map with the most flower-covered roads listed when you stop by.

 

Poteet Strawberry Festival – Poteet (April 11-13, 2025)

Poteet Strawberry Festival is one of the state’s oldest and most beloved fruit festivals. It celebrates this popular berry with live music, carnival rides, and local entertainment. The first event in 1948 encouraged World War II veterans to harvest strawberries from local farms. Over the years, the festival has continued to add more entertainment, and you can expect to try some delicious strawberries and other foods here this spring.

 

Georgetown Red Poppy Festival – Georgetown (April 25-27, 2025)

The Georgetown Red Poppy Festival is a picturesque event featuring live music, artisan vendors, and a car show. The red poppies in Georgetown have been in place here for over 100 years, originally brought here by Henry Purl Compton, a World War I soldier. The seeds were sent to his mother from Flanders Field, and they now act as a symbol of hope and remembrance. This year’s festival will occur from April 25th to 27th, 2025. Highlights of the event will include Saturday’s Poppy Parade and Car Show and the Sunday Funday. It’s another great event for families with children, who will enjoy all the special events offered for younger visitors.

 

Eeyore’s Birthday Party – Austin (April 26, 2025)

As the name suggests, this Austin gathering celebrates the beloved Winnie-the-Pooh character. It’s a quirky and fun-filled event that features drumming circles, costumes, and a unique Austin experience. 2025 is the 60th anniversary of this event, and occurs on Saturday, April 26th, 2025. In case of heavy rain, there is a backup rain date of Saturday, May 3rd, 2025.

 

Old Settler’s Music Festival – Dale (April 24-27, 2025)

April sees the return of this annual music festival in Texas. It’s a premier local event featuring folk, bluegrass, and Americana. Visitors from further afield will appreciate the camping options, and you certainly won’t go hungry with their extensive selection of food trucks and craft beer. The festival started in 1987 and attracts locals and visitors who come back year after year. As a first-time visitor, camping is one of the best ways to experience this festival and avoid missing out on the intimate performances and arts and crafts on offer. We recommend looking at the schedule of events ahead of time and selecting which performances you are most interested in when planning your visit.
